I’m from Leeds and saw GAOB a couple of times around 1981. I think I first saw them when I was at univeristy in London, and was curious to see an actual band from Leeds – as a city we had no local bands compared to Manchester, Liverpool or Sheffield ( I don’t count Mekons/Delta 5 etc who were students not from Leeds). After the gig at some pub near Kings Cross I said hello to the band members – I think Titch was the only one who responded. I later saw him in the Warehouse in Leeds after the band had split and he said he was working as a plumber or something. I have a few blurred photos I took at the gigs taken with my cheap Halina film camera, but the quality is crap compared to the decent ones you already have in your gallery.

I bought the other singles as well, and had the album on order when I saw them play at Wolverhampton Polytechnic in 81 – was slightly disappointed when it hadn’t arrived in time to get it signed. Been listening to them regularly for all these years, and they still sound fresh and exciting.

Heck, I might only be eighteen, but I’ve spent a frankly unhealthy amount of time recommending the band to everyone I know!
